The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended 14 suspected herders for breaching the Executive Order that bans transhumance movement in Adamawa State.
In a statement by DSC Nyako Amidu Baba, the CDPRO for the Adamawa State Command, it was revealed that the operation was conducted by the Hong Divisional Office of the NSCDC in collaboration with other security agencies.
The executive order, issued by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, was intended to prevent farmer-herder conflicts and enhance public safety and security.
Commandant ID Bande directed the immediate enforcement of the ban across all 21 LGAs of the state.
“Preliminary investigations have shown that some of those arrested are non-indigenes, underscoring the necessity of enforcing the ban to prevent external disturbances. Investigations are ongoing, and once concluded, the suspects will be prosecuted,” the statement said.
Commandant Bande also called on residents and stakeholders to cooperate with law enforcement and warned individuals or groups planning similar violations.
