The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has sanctioned twenty-four corps members in Sokoto State, with eight required to repeat their service year and sixteen having their service extended.
State Coordinator, Usman Yaro, stated this during the passing-out ceremony of the 2025 Batch A, Stream One corps members in Sokoto.
He said the sanctions were due to offences such as absenteeism and abscondment, stressing that the scheme maintains zero tolerance for truancy.
Meanwhile, two corps members were honored with the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar Award for their outstanding contributions to improving the lives of their host communities.
Yaro urged outgoing corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme and take their acquired skills seriously.
He also warned against night travel, advising corps members to seek shelter in NYSC formations, security posts, or traditional institutions when necessary.
