Kaduna commences refunds to 2023 Hajj pilgrims

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has begun disbursing N61,080 to each of the 6,239 pilgrims who participated in the 2023 Hajj through the state.

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has begun distributing refunds received from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). NAHCON stated that the refunds, amounting to N61,080 per pilgrim, are compensation for the disruption in electricity supply during the pilgrims’ stay at Muna, which impacted cooling systems and caused inconvenience.

In a statement signed by the agency’s spokesperson, Yunusa Mohammed Abdullahi, it was confirmed that the refunds would be paid directly into the bank accounts of the 6,239 affected pilgrims.

“We are committed to ensuring that only verified pilgrims with complete bank account details receive the refunds,” said the agency’s Executive Chairman, Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, during a meeting with Local Government Pilgrims Registration Officers on Tuesday.

The agency has called on pilgrims who have not submitted their documentation to approach their Local Government Registration Officers for verification, providing necessary details such as passports and bank account information.

To maintain transparency and accountability, Malam Abubakar emphasized that all payments would be made directly to the pilgrims’ accounts. He also urged Registration Officers to strictly adhere to the verification requirements to ensure the smooth and fair disbursement of the refunds.
