Kajuru Disability Day: Madaki Enrols 50 PLWDs into Kaduna Health Insurance Scheme

The Executive Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Council, Dauda Madaki, has announced the enrollment of 50 Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) into the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) health insurance scheme.

Madaki made the announcement during the 2027 Disability Day Celebration organised by the Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), Kajuru Local Government Branch, held at Maraban Kajuru with the theme: “Empowerment, Self-Reliance and Inclusion.”

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the council chairman, John Ezra Sojah, the gesture was part of the council’s commitment to improving healthcare access for vulnerable citizens in Kajuru Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the initiative is aimed at reducing the healthcare burden on persons living with disabilities and ensuring they are not denied access to essential medical services because of financial challenges.

“Persons living with disabilities are not objects of sympathy but valuable contributors to societal development whose resilience and determination continue to inspire progress,” he said.

Madaki stressed that meaningful development could only be achieved through inclusive governance that gives priority to vulnerable groups in society.

He also urged members of the disability community to remain committed to education, entrepreneurship and self-development, describing empowerment and self-reliance as critical pathways to economic independence.

The chairman commended the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, for what he described as his administration’s commitment to the welfare and inclusion of persons living with disabilities through empowerment and social protection programmes.

Earlier, Mr. Paul Ayuba expressed appreciation to the Kajuru council chairman for hosting the event and for supporting disability-related advocacy and engagement in the area.

Also present at the occasion were Hon. Nas Danborno, Councillor representing Afogo Ward, and Hon. Sujada D. Ayuba, Councillor representing Kallah Ward.
