Youths have been urged to channel their talents and skills towards promoting peace, unity and harmonious coexistence among Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic and religious differences.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, gave the charge at the inauguration of the Kabilu Unified Forum Youth Wing and award ceremony held in Kaduna.
Mrs. Ibrahim said young people must take the lead in building a peaceful society, stressing that government would continue to support them through policies and programmes.
“Youths are the backbone of every society. They must use their talents and skills to promote peace and unity among our people, irrespective of ethnic or religious differences,” she said.
She added that the Kaduna State Government was fully committed to youth development and empowerment.
“The present administration is introducing programmes and policies aimed at supporting the youth, and I urge you to rally round the government of Governor Uba Sani,” she added.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), Ben Dalhatu Kure, commended the governor for what he described as remarkable achievements across the state, particularly in road construction.
“The road projects executed by this administration have boosted socio-economic activities in both rural and urban areas. In view of these achievements, Governor Uba Sani deserves a second term,” he said.
Mr. Kure called on residents of Chikun Local Government Area to support the governor in order to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, Jerry Adams, and the Chairman of Chikun Local Government Area, Salasi Nuhu Musa, urged the newly inaugurated members to unite the people and promote peaceful coexistence.
Earlier, Chairman of the Kabilu Unified Forum, Benjamin Amako, said the body comprised people from diverse ethnic groups with a common objective of fostering peace and understanding.
“Our forum brings together people of different tribes, and we are committed to promoting peace, unity and mutual respect,” he said.
Responding, the new Chairman of the Youth Wing, Solomon Ado Yani, pledged to carry all members along in the discharge of his responsibilities.
“I will work with every member to ensure that we achieve the objectives for which this youth wing was established,” he said.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to some leaders for their commitment to service and humanity, including Mr. Kure.
