Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in recognition of his service to the state and the nation.
The investiture, which took place at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, was described by the NIPR leadership as a reflection of merit, integrity and commitment to national development.
Speaking at the ceremony, the National President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, said the institute applies strict standards in awarding its fellowship.
“We are very careful about those who wear the brand of NIPR,” he said, noting that recipients must demonstrate clear value to the people and the country.
According to him, Governor Sani met all the requirements, earning the endorsement of the institute’s governing council across Nigeria.
Dr. Neliaku cited infrastructure development as part of the governor’s achievements, recalling that the Sokoto Road leading to Government House Kaduna, last upgraded in 1999, is now undergoing full reconstruction under the present administration.
He further explained that while state governors serve as patrons of the institute by law, not all are elevated to positions of honour.
“Once you wear our brand, you become an icon of reputation, and wherever you are, we stand with you,” he said.
The NIPR president added that the fellowship goes beyond patronship and remains with the recipient beyond public office.
He also announced that Nigeria will host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, alongside the 37th African Public Relations Association conference, scheduled for November 15 to 21, 2026, in Abuja.
More than 120 countries are expected to participate in the event, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu serving as Chief Host.
Dr. Neliaku disclosed that the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management has also named Governor Sani as an Ambassador of the World Public Relations Forum.
Responding, Governor Sani expressed appreciation for the honour, describing it as both humbling and a call to greater responsibility.
“This recognition is a call to remain steadfast in the pursuit of transparency, accountability and ethical communication in the discharge of public duty,” he said.
He added that Kaduna State is prepared to host the 2026 Nigerian Public Relations Week, describing it as an opportunity to promote national dialogue and inclusive development.
