Bauchi Governor presents ₦465 billion 2025 budget to State Assembly

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday presented a ₦465.855 billion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

The proposed budget represents an 18% increase from the 2024 appropriation, driven by reforms and inflationary pressures affecting various sectors nationwide.

Governor Mohammed highlighted that the 2024 budget had achieved an 80% implementation rate, attributing the increase in the 2025 proposal to ongoing reforms and rising costs across all sectors in the federation.

The budget allocates ₦166.938 billion to the social sector, focusing on education, healthcare, and welfare, while ₦9.578 billion is earmarked for justice.

The governor emphasized completing ongoing projects alongside launching new initiatives to address critical needs and deliver immediate benefits. He added that the budget prioritizes the implementation of the new minimum wage, the contributory pension scheme, and adherence to fiscal guidelines.

“To ensure inclusivity, public hearings were held across the three senatorial zones, incorporating stakeholder inputs and adopting the community charter of demand to address grassroots needs,” Mohammed stated.

He called on the assembly to expedite the budget’s passage to enable timely execution of its programs and projects.

Speaker of the State Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, praised the executive for the timely submission of the proposal and assured swift consideration and approval to sustain the state’s development trajectory.
